Women Entrepreneurs – Your Best Business Investment is You

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

The beauty of an entrepreneurial business is that there is a direct connection between your personal growth and your business growth. Watch your business grow exponentially as you personally develop and grow.

As women entrepreneurs we’re often looking for something better – whether that means spending more time with our family, making more money or pursuing our passion. We want to improve our lives…we may want a way out or a chance to change. As an entrepreneur, if you’re willing to invest in your personal growth you have the ability to shape your own destiny. That freedom is what appealed to many of us when we started our businesses.

Are you committed to investing in your personal growth?

I’ve noticed that the biggest leaps in my business growth always occur after I’ve invested in some personal growth. Whether it’s a great personal development book I took the time to read, a live event with one of my favorite mentors or a phone call with a mastermind partner I always walk away with more ideas, more confidence and more inspiration.

In preparation for my new program, The Get It Done Challenge, I’ve had the opportunity (and gift) of doing some one-on-one coaching with high idea-generating women entrepreneurs. I’ve been very impressed by how many women are committed to their own personal growth. In our lively conversations, it’s apparent that these women recognize that they need to invest in themselves in order to be successful.

But, maybe you’re thinking to yourself… I don’t have the time or I don’t have the money. Women (and particularly moms) often suffer from guilt. Many entrepreneurial moms I know feel guilty even thinking about putting themselves first, and therefore their needs are often relegated to the backburner.

This reasoning won’t support you in achieving your goals. You can’t afford NOT to invest in your personal growth as an entrepreneur and also as a mother. Instead of feeling guilty, recognize that when you invest in yourself everyone in your business and personal life benefits along with you.

FYI–If you are ready to get it done and connect with motivated women entrepreneurs check out the GET IT DONE Circle today.

“Get It Done, Get It Back” Reality Show for Mom Entrepreneurs

Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009

I’m just wrapping up the filming of my first pilot of Get it Done, Get it Back with Susie Shina. We are creating the pilot of a reality-based show where we help a mom entrepreneur (aka Metromom) work through a business struggle and a lifestyle struggle.

Within Metromom, I coach women to bring out that brilliance from their business.  Susie works with women to restore their bodies, restyle their lives and reconnect with a passion for ‘the other stuff’.  So we figured that together we bring true balance for working girls!

We see this new show as a cross between Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and Nanny-911.  Our vision is to makeover one woman’s most burning struggle in her business and one struggle in her life in one 22-minute show.  We would uncover specific challenges most working moms face and offer very real, doable solutions…taking the featured woman from overwhelmed and dissatisfied to taking that big sigh of relief.

This whole experience has been such a fun example of our getting it done. Susie and I are both complete “newbies” when it comes to putting together a TV show! But we had a great idea, great passion, and are ready to rely on the support and guidance of an amazing producer to take us through this process.

Here are the steps I took that got me here…

· I was told by an intuitive that I must attend the National Publicity Summit last October to get more into the spotlight. I trusted her and plunked down my credit card.

· Through the Summit I met Susie Shina and immediately knew we had a great chemistry. We brainstormed how we could collaborate and the idea of a “reality TV show” hit us.

· Susie and I got together and created 2 quick videos to communicate our idea. You can see them below. One’s our real pitch, the other is the funny outtakes that we just had to include.

· Then we approached a producer we’d both connected with. She loved our idea and agreed to produce our first pilot.

· We reached out to connections, including social networking friends, for help in finding a "Metromom" we could work with in Phoenix.

· We got off our butts, arranged for childcare and booked our flights to shoot the pilot!

For me, the reason this project has been so much fun is because I’ve  thoroughly enjoyed the process and the lack of personal agenda. I’m not attached to any outcome of what occurs – be it internet TV, real TV or no TV. I know goodness will come from this, whatever the result, even if it’s just a great experience connecting with great people. Sometimes you just have to show up fully, have fun, have faith, and follow your instincts about the people you work with.  Where will this all lead? I don’t know but I do know that this is part of a great path. I’ll keep you posted!

Introducing the “Get It Done System”

Sunday, October 18th, 2009

image A lot of entrepreneurs I know are trying to get it done. They’re taking classes, buying info products, watching what others are doing. BUT they’re not necessarily doing it. You probably turn to your coach, or top internet marketers or your mastermind partners when you get stuck. That’s great! I’m definitely encourage that as I too get a lot of clarity learning from others but…

Here’s my experience, all those support people really do help you figure out WHAT you need to do but somehow you’re left to figure out HOW to do it all on your own. I mean HOW do you fit a big project into you’re already busy life? For me personally I’m a mom of three children (7, 10, and 11). I pack lunches, volunteer at school, drive carpools, help with homework, manage my home, and do my best to exercise regularly and keep my house clean.

So, as the “Get it Done Girl”, I’m going to share with you HOW to do it.

Imagine that you have a model so when you have an idea you know the steps to put it into action. You now generate income from that idea, and you can feel great knowing you’re making a difference and serving your client,

Yes, there is a method to the madness! I have a great system and now I want to share it with YOU. The 5-Step Get it Done System I created is really a culmination of all I do personally and what I’ve learned that can help you get your brilliant ideas out of your head and out there into the world where they deserve to be.

I am SPILLING THE BEANS and revealing all 5 Steps to the Get It Done System! Check it out and you’ll get the complete layout of the system that I’ve developed to help you get out of overwhelm and get your brilliance out into the world.

My philosophy is I could just give you the steps for each individual project but that means the next time you have a project you still won’t have the system to get it done. I believe in the old proverb: Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.

I would love to get your feedback on the Get It Done System so please post your comments and let me know what questions you’ve got!

Nurturing Our Daughters and Their Self Esteem

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I recently had the opportunity to interview Karen Schachter from Dishing with Your Daughters about her passion for supporting the next generation of girls (our daughters), and the current generation of women (us, the moms) to experience true nourishment in their relationship to food, their bodies, and their lives (rather than then the angst and struggle so many girls and women experience, which gets in their way of living their lives).

As a psychotherapist and health counselor and mom, Karen’s heard it all when it comes to food, eating and body image struggles.  As someone who struggled herself for many years, Karen believes in the importance of the mom-daughter relationship as a powerful vehicle in creating this change.

Although she has helped many women and girls in her practice, Karen is now committed to reaching more people to help create real generational change.  She’s hosting a very special F*REE teleclass on October 29th that I wanted to make sure you knew about, called The 7-Step Recipe to Connect With Your Daughter and Guide Her Toward Healthy Eating, a Strong Self-Esteem, and A Positive Body Image… so can live a big, full meaningful life.

Karen will teach you everything she’s learned through her work with hundreds of clients so you can avoid some of the biggest mistakes she sees smart moms make, and instead facilitate true deliciousness for your daughter.  It’s not easy raising a girl these days, so Karen will identify the key things you MUST know.

The “recipe” Karen teaches is especially useful for young girls (elementary school aged) through puberty…and can be used over and over as your daughter grows and changes.

Some of the thing Karen will share on her call are how to:

- Be a fabulous role model for your daughter – even if you struggle yourself with these issues.

- Connect deeply with your daughter – and help her connect to deeply to others in her life – which is KEY for feeling “filled up” in her life.

- Feed your daughter’s brain – and why that is SO important when it comes to cravings, overeating and even self-esteem.

- Help your daughter focus on nourishment rather than dieting and deprivation.

- Support your daughter in feeling good in WHO she is, rather than just focused on her appearance.

- Help your daughter feel good about her body – even if she’s not built like a supermodel.

As a special friend, I know Karen is very generous with her time and information and wants you to walk away from this call not only with a greater understanding of what your daughter faces as a girl these days, but also with REAL strategies and ideas you can implement right away to make a difference in her life.

Click here to reserve your spot in this complimentary teleclass.

Please leave a comment about your experience as a parent dealing with your daughter and these issues.

How Does She Do It? Free Tele-Series Exposes the Comparison Trap. #How09

Friday, October 9th, 2009

I am honored to be participating in Gina Bell’s How Does She Do It? Tele-Series happening October 16th and 17th.

This thought-provoking interview series exposes the comparison trap as it relates to “success” stereotypes and draws attention to how our knee-jerk reaction to compare ourselves to others or to “model success” the wrong way sabotages authenticity and confidence.

The series also reveals the top five challenges that women in business online commonly face and directs the how does she do it question to these relevant topics with the intention of protecting your authenticity.

“How Does She Do It?” is a common question we wonder when success appears so effortless for others and we’re not getting the results we want. But, it’s when we look externally for validation and confirmation that our ideas have value that self-doubt can be triggered and we fall into the trap.

So, are you ready to join us in drawing a line in the sand?

Are you ready to break free from the cookie-cutter/copycat approach to modeling success so you can create success your way, authentically and with confidence?

I’m proud to be one of 16 successful women (such as Carla Young, Mary Pat Kavanaugh, Laura West, Shannon Cherry and Marie Forleo, to name a few) who are speaking up to reveal our own experiences with comparison. Our goal is to provide valuable insight, share lessons learned and inspire you to take YOUR next steps all from a caring and supportive approach that protects your authenticity.

The tele-series starts October 16th at 10 AM EST and you can listen to the interviews FREE when you register at http://bit.ly/1wpo0R.

Mom Entrepreneurs: Between Business and the Kids – How Do You Find Time for Your Marriage?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

As I’m going through a thrilling time of professional growth, I’m going through the most difficult time personally, as I work to keep my marriage together. As most mom entrepreneurs can relate to there are so many things to juggle – work, kids, marriage, self, friendships and family. Keeping them all going is hard and right now my marriage is the piece that’s challenged.

Last Friday I attended Debbie Phillips Woman on Fire Tea Party in NYC. Debbie’s question to the 15 women present, was “What are you on fire about, or not?” I was second to the last to answer and surprisingly enough I ended up sharing some of the emotional tolls my entrepreneurial life has been having on my personal life, especially my marriage.

Things began changing when my husband lost his job. I fantasized that he’d want to jump on board with Metromom and run with certain parts of the business. BUT it’s my dream, not his. He’s supportive and helps out but not to the degree that I’d like. I’ve come to realize that’s part of the challenge of running a business – lots of ideas and visions for the future but you often go it alone.

More Tips on How to Improve Your Relationship with Money

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

In my last blog I shared some highlights from an interview with Linda Hunt for a training call for my members on The Language of Money – Understanding Your Language Around Money So You Can Change Your Relationship With It.

Here are a few more great suggestions and powerful exercises she shared that really got me re-examining my attitude towards money.

Create awareness about how you feel spending money.

You need to analyze your feelings both when you’re making a purchase and then again at the end of the day. Linda gave an example that completely resonated with me.

Let’s say you buy yourself a latte every morning. Your emotion when you make your purchase is, “I feel great! I love my latte!” But later on in the day, how do you feel? If you feel great, then keep buying those lattes!

But what it you feel guilt and regret? Ask yourself “Why do I keep putting myself through that every day if I feel guilty? If it makes me feel bad, why am I buying lattes every day?” Analyzing your feelings during and after purchases is a great way to create awareness, and make changes.

Don’t avoid money issues.

There’s nothing more stressful than a pile of unpaid bills sitting on your desk. The energy of them sitting around can zap your energy, especially if money is tight that month. If you’re having trouble making payments, you must address this right away. Pick the phone up and speak your truth and say, “This is what’s going on for me. Is there some way we can work it out?” Being upfront and having these conversations is going to ease some of your stress. Another benefit is that most companies want to work something out with you if you’re just willing to make that phone call.

Abundance comes to you through feeling.

If you truly believe your glass is half full as opposed to half empty, you’re going to feel abundance. Find what makes your heart sing. Is it your children? Is it playing with your dog? Is it decorating your home? These simple things that you do that make you happy are really the root of your abundance.
For me personally I enjoy reaching out and connecting with women, something magical always happens. There is richness in my life and in the experience of sharing and learning with other great women.

So when you feel money stress rising, maybe when you receive an unexpected bill. Instead of going into that panic mode… pause. Get up from your desk, take a deep breath and recall your feelings of abundance, the simple things that make you happy. Abundance comes in many ways, other than just monetary.

Applying these suggestions can really shift your relationship with money. Stay tuned for more details about the upcoming Metromom Prosperity Telesummit where I will get back in touch with what it means to be abundant and focus on the service and value you’re providing in the world.

Introducing Metromom’s GET IT DONE Circle

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

The past few weeks of the summer have been really exciting for me because I’ve been working on a really big project – the revamp of my members area – now called the GET IT DONE Circle. I’ve even updated my Metromom tagline to be: The GET IT DONE Resource for the Motivated Mom Entrepreneur.

The relaunch of this part of my business came as a result of member feedback, my own intuition, conversations with mastermind members, and honestly that magic X-factor of something that’s just much more aligned with who I am and what I know I’m good at providing.

At the end of June, I shared a blog post that alluded to new GET IT DONE things that were in the works. Funny thing is that even as short as 7 weeks ago, I hadn’t thought of revamping my members area. It wasn’t until I attended Carrie Wilkerson’s mastermind in July, and had some some pretty great conversations with other entrepreneurs that this idea came to be.

The fact is what I’m really good at, and what I really love is helping women with lots of brilliant ideas to get them out of their heads and into the world, so their customers can benefit from them, and they can reap the rewards. So often the women I speak with share their frustration about things in their business not coming fast enough—be it more clients, more visibility, more money or the difference they know they want to make.

Please watch my short video (filmed by my 10 year old son Beck) about why I really created the GET IT DONE Circle and how I hope you can benefit from it.  Then, please check out more about it and let me know what your think. http://metromom.com/gid
