The Procrastination Cure Was Right in Front of Me

I have an important follow-up to last week’s confession/blog.  Last week I was procrastinating (to the point of watching movies in bed in the middle of the day) until I followed my own advice!

I’ve been brainstorming about a new program to help entrepreneurs quickly create a whole new source of income by providing the “how-to” steps to create an info-product. I know this program has incredible value and appeal but I’ve been stuck.

Why? Because I wasn’t clear on who my “ideal” client for this program is even though I’d just written an article on why that’s so important!

The problem was that the client I was initially visualizing for this program just wasn’t fun for me to work with… In fact the person who kept popping into my head was my mother! And although she helped me come up with the idea for the program I just couldn’t visualize working with her. So even though I knew I was sitting on this great idea, I couldn’t move forward.

So, I got on the phone with a friend and shared ideas and my dilemma. She said to me, “Kim, I need what you’re describing. Maybe I’m you’re ideal client?”

Bingo! That was the clarity I needed.

My friend has an established business providing a service that’s in high demand. But she’s tired of being paid by the hour. She has a ton of knowledge in her field and if she shared this knowledge in some type of an info product she would not only bring in some extra cash, she would leverage her time and enhance her credibility in her field.

After that conversation the ideas for my new program started flowing and I could feel my bottleneck release.

So if you find yourself dragging your feet about getting your product or service out there, think about someone you know really well that could benefit from your product or service. Think about that person that’s fun to work with, that energizes you and brings out the best in you. Then, think about how you can bring the most value to that person. I guarantee you’ll find this exercise energizing and you’ll be motivated to get it done.

In case you were wondering, my ideal client for this particular program is an experienced entrepreneur who offers a valuable service but is ready to take their work to a larger market. So if you’re paid to provide a service as a coach, nutritional consultant, writer, virtual assistant, therapist … this means you!

Please do me a favor and take a couple minutes to fill out my survey.  Now that I know who you are, I want to infuse this program with the kind of learning you’re looking for. Here’s the link.

Extra bonus: One person who fills out the survey will be awarded a place in my new program for f^ree! (And, if you know of any service providers that could benefit from a brand new source of income please let them know about this survey too!)

Hi, I am trying to complete your survey and I can't find the submit button.

Any suggestions. Am I missing something?

We are using doing our survey through Icebrrg and are seeing that some browsers leave off the submit button. Lesson learned for the next time. I'd love to have your feedback so here are two choices - either try viewing the page through a different browser or fill out the copy and just copy/paste into an email and send to me at metromom@metromom.com. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • I know so many people who will benefit with this program ... and will be happy to send them your way (myself included). Congrats on honoring your need to "procrastinate" and think things through to identify that Ideal client.

thanks so much for all your brainstorming this morning. You really validated my ideas and helped me to get much clearer so I could figure out HOW I'm going to best deliver the info.

  • My pleasure, Kim. I'm thrilled I was able to help. You're on you way!
