Susan Boyle – Showing Us All What’s Possible
I admit it, I’m a huge fan of American Idol. Last season, every Tuesday and Wednesday night our whole family crawled into bed to cheer on the underdogs and revel in the beautiful singing. Last night, my husband gathered me and our 3 children around his computer to share a YouTube video of Susan Boyle singing on Britain’s Got Talent. Not knowing anything about her, and not being great at surprises, I wanted to know what we were in store for. As is typical of Allan, he didn’t let on.
Susan Boyle came onto the stage, looking little like an Idol, and the snickers started from the judges and the audience. The laughing stopped immediately when she began to sing. Her spectacular voice left me with tears in my eyes and full body chills. Why? Because she defied the odds. No one believed in her and she completely blew them away.
It’s now 24 hours since I’ve first seen this video and all I want to do is share in her glory and re-listen again and again. She reminds me of what’s possible, and I want to share that with you.
