Goodbye Piles of Notebooks – A New Tool Helps Me Dream Big
Are you familiar with Microsoft OneNote? It’s becoming my new favorite tool to keep track of all my ideas.
As someone with lots of ideas, I used to keep notebooks and more notebooks with my notes. I know there are great gems in them, as well as action steps I want to take, but they’re not getting done while they’re in a notebook. Also, the pieces of paper all over the place—that never made it into the notebook—have me feeling less than organized.
I’m delving into OneNote in an effort to clear my clutter. It’s a digital notebook that provides me one place to gather my notes and it includes a powerful search so I can find what I’m looking for quickly.
I find that it’s a great place to keep track of my “to do” lists—for me and my team. OneNote is far more flexible than a notebook because in addition to gathering text, I can store pictures, audio and video recordings, and websites. Now when there’s a website I like, I just paste it into a notebook page.
I’m also using it for new business projects—be it info-product ideas or visions for my upcoming Metromom Telesummit. My husband and I were brainstorming about content and ideas for the Telesummit and he said “Grab OneNote, put it in there.”
For me with the ideas out of my head and in a tangible form, they can really take shape. For example, I did a very fun “Law of Attraction” project over the weekend. As I envision what I want my Telesummit to look like and who I’d like to speak, I just began putting my “dream list” together. I went to assorted websites, cut and pasted logos and photos, and all of a sudden, I had created a really exciting page of possibilities. Just looking at the images of all the people I dream of drawing together is thrilling and makes it feel very possible.
