Metromoms Need to Embrace Technology
I’m always on the lookout for work-at-home mom solutions. Metromoms–moms with entrepreneurial spirit–rely on technology as a solution to help them stay productive whether they’re at the office or on the playground. Without technology it would be much more difficult for moms working from home to balance responsibilities. Here are three tech resources entrepreneur moms find especially helpful:
Treo Smartphone/BlackBerry Handheld Device
Treos and BlackBerrys are great because in addition to a phone, they give you access to the Internet and your email. Some moms also use them to store their daily planner and address book. This portable office can go with you to the playground.
Laptops
A lot of moms who run a home-based business use a laptop for their main computer. They love being able to take their laptop with them so they can be with their kids instead of tied down to their office. Moms also like being able to work in a variety of different places. I’ve found myself working at Starbucks when I need a change of scenery. Sometime just being away from home can stimulate creativity.
iPod or MP3 players
These devices aren’t just for music anymore. The latest devices have room to store a lot of media so you can listen to podcasts and download teleseminars to listen to at your own convenience. As busy multi-tasking moms, our cars have become our mobile universities. I love how this makes driving time more productive, and even makes my morning exercise more pleasurable.
